There’s something pretty special about the Berlin-based Transylvanian artist Jinka. We’ve already covered her gothic debut ‘Trash From The Past’ and homage to anthemic retro-pop ‘Flesh To White To Black To Flesh’, and now the young songwriter offers up her third single and a new facet to her sound. ‘Shock Mounted’ is a superimposed modern pop song that’s about a break-up, not that you’d know it listening to Jinka’s carefree “na na na” or swirls of synthetic pop colour. You can’t help put bob your head along to the electronic beats and Jinka’s catchy iteration of “shock mounted” as she jumps around on screen wearing a glorious embroidered, tangerine parka. The video is a surrealistic jaunt that Jinka takes in her stride, convincing the watcher/listener that these scenes are totally normal and probably what the rising indie artist does everyday. - HT
